Operative Research on Community Health Systems Strengthening

CHC is currently contracted by the System Enhancement for Transformative Health (SETH) project to support operational research in Western Kenya.

The SETH project’s objective is to improve the quality, availability and access to Maternal, New-born and Child health and nutrition services (MNCHN). A key component of the SETH project is to support the roll-out of the Community Health Strategy in the counties.

The operational research that CHC is supporting will help define concrete actions to trial for improving both the use of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition services, as well as the functionality of Community Health Units.

The steps in the operational research include formative research, a stakeholder workshop to review the formative research and identify actions to trial, 2 sets of learning cycles, and an outcome assessment. Outcomes of this operational research are intended to help operationalize the Community Health System in Western Kenya and potentially beyond.
